Just over three years since #edchatNZ was established, the popular educators’ twitter forum is exploring additional ways of keeping Kiwi teachers informed and connected.
Forum founder Danielle Myburgh has teamed up with Jane Gilbert and AUT to offer educators the chance to take part in a MOOC (massive open online course).
It is hoped the MOOC will prompt more in-depth discussions about critical ideas and issues in education and its future - in other words, “for ideas that 140 Twitter characters just can't handle”.
The MOOC will be a ten-week course beginning the first week of March. Participants can choose whether they wish to be assessed or not. Either way, Myburgh believes it presents an excellent chance for some stimulating, high quality and free professional development.
